Nike SB’s Statue of Liberty

I’m not familiar with the sneaker scene, but I understand that any avid collector would rather keep their pieces pristine. These Statue of Liberty-inspired kicks from Nike Skateboarding, however, have a hidden feature that you can’t see until they’ve been worn and scuffed up a bit.

Underneath the green is a copper-colored layer, similar to how the Statue of Liberty looked before her copper skin oxidized and formed the familiar seafoam patina. Freshness Mag speculates that most collectors will deliberately distress their sneakers and then protect them with a sealant, instead of actually wearing them.

The sneakers are scheduled to be on sale in February. Good thing they come in pairs.
